STRENGTHS

Multidisciplinary Integration and Innovation: By integrating resources from oncology, traditional Chinese medicine, and psychology, a "medical-psychological-social" psycho-social support system has been constructed.

Empowerment through Digital Tools:Leveraging a natural language analysis-based automatic screening system, we have collected 3.35 million user comments over three years, identifying 3.8% of potential psychological problems.

WEAKNESSES

Uneven Resource Allocation: Psycho-social support services are predominantly concentrated in large specialized cancer hospitals. Challenges in Patient Compliance: Some patients experience stigma associated with psychological interventions, particularly among the elderly population, who tend to prefer traditional medical treatments.

OPPORTUNITIES

Policy Support and Medical Insurance Coverage: The National Health Commission has included "psycho-social support for cancer patients" in the Healthy China Initiative (2019-2030). Leveraging this policy advantage, efforts are being made to advocate for the inclusion of psychological interventions in the scope of medical insurance reimbursement, thereby reducing the financial burden on patients. Breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence Technology: Further optimization of the psychological assessment system is underway, utilizing technologies  to enhance the early identification rate of psychological issues.

THREATS

Shortage of Professional Talents: Psycho-social support requires interdisciplinary professionals with backgrounds in medicine, psychology, and sociology. Ethical Controversies and Legal Risks: Non-traditional therapies such as aromatherapy, tea art interventions, and music therapy carry the risk of "excessive promotion of efficacy," which may lead to medical disputes, undermining the credibility of the industry.

CONCLUSION

Practice has demonstrated that psycho-social support should prioritize patient needs, striving to transition from "disease treatment" to "holistic life care" through technological innovation, resource integration, and multi-party collaboration. Looking ahead, our team will further explore an integrated model of "AI &  humanities," aiming to provide "Chinese solutions" for cancer survivors worldwide.
