• Objectives/purpose: This cross-sectional study aimed to identify the factors affecting the work-related well-being of parents of children with paediatric cancer.

• Sample and setting: Using G*Power 3.1 program, a minimum sample size of 169 was determined. Based on which we aimed to collect data from 212 respondents to compensate for a dropout rate of approximately 20%. Ultimately, 228 people responded, and after excluding 10 responses that met the exclusion criteria, 218 people were included in the final analysis.

• Procedures: In October 2024, 218 parents of children with paediatric cancer in Korea participated in an online self-report survey. Mentalisation, resilience, and work-related well-being were assessed using the Korean version of the Mentalisation Scale, the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Korean Workplace Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaningfulness, and Accomplishment Profiler.

• Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that mentalisation (B=0.19, 95% CI [0.03, 0.34], p=.022) and resilience (B=1.07, 95% CI [0.91, 1.23], p=<.001) significantly influenced the work-related well-being of parents of children with paediatric cancer even when controlling for personal and work-related characteristics, as well as the children’s disease characteristics.

• Conclusion and clinical implications: Enhancing mentalisation and resilience, which are key factors affecting the work-related well-being of parents of paediatric children with cancer, will improve their work-related well-being. To improve their work-related well-being, pre-screening and interventions for mentalisation and resilience are required.
