Geraldine McDonald 1
  1. Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Parkville, VIC, Australia

This presentation will explore how Australia’s largest public Comprehensive Cancer Centre is innovating to address the social determinants of health through social prescribing and an integrated suite of Wellbeing services.

Cancer Wellbeing Centres in Australia have experienced significant growth, recognizing that psychosocial cancer care extends beyond the traditional clinic room. These centres provide a vital platform for delivering services focused on supporting patients’ psychosocial needs within a culturally safe environment. Importantly, services are co-designed with patients and carers to ensure that cancer care holistically considers the impact of social determinants on patients’ experiences.

This session will offer a current state overview of Cancer Wellbeing Centres, highlighting the key challenges and enablers involved in their operation. Additionally, we will discuss critical success factors essential for the sustainability and ongoing development of these centres.
