Anne Brédart
I am a clinician and researcher at the Psycho-Oncology Unit, Department of Oncology Patient Supportive Care at the Institut Curie in Paris (France) since 2000.
I began my professional experience in psycho-oncology at the Jules Bordet Institute in Brussels (Belgium) and then at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan (Italy). I was able to witness the psychosocial needs and expectations in oncology and the ways in which cancer care is organized and managed in these different European contexts.
A graduate of ULB (B.A. in Psychology), Harvard University (M.A.), the University of Amsterdam (PhD) and Université Paris Cité (France) (Ability to lead Scientific Research), I am a member of the executive committee of the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) Quality of Life group. As part of this group, I coordinate the international development of measures of satisfaction with cancer care. I am also involved in developing questionnaires on quality of life in relation to immunotherapy treatments, patient-clinician communication and the psychosocial impact of the genetic risk of hereditary cancer.
At present, my clinical research activity is mainly focused on women with breast cancer and, in particular, those at increased risk of developing the disease because of their personal or family history of cancer.
Besides, my main current research is aimed at improving information and psychological support along the cancer care continuum including the advanced cancer stage, as well as improving patient-centred care based on the assessment and monitoring of patient satisfaction with cancer care.
