Masako Okamura

Dr. Masako Okamura is a psychiatrist and researcher specializing in psycho-oncology, survivorship care, and patient-centered communication. She has extensive experience in providing psychosocial care for cancer patients and their families. Currently, she serves as a researcher in the Division of Survivorship Research at the National Cancer Center Institute for Cancer Control, Japan. Her research focuses on improving psychosocial care for cancer patients and survivors, particularly adolescents and young adults (AYA). She has contributed to several national studies on psychological distress and communication between patients and healthcare professionals. She is also a Board Member of the Japan Psycho-Oncology Society (JPOS) and serves as Chair of the Committee on Communication Skills Training within the society. Through her leadership in education and research, she aims to promote compassionate, evidence-based communication and psychosocial support in oncology care.
