Luigi Grassi
Luigi Grassi, MD is Professor and Chair of Psychiatry, and Chair of the Department of Biomedical and Specialty Surgical Sciences at the University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy. In 2002 he was appointed to be the Chief of the University Clinical Psychiatry Unit, S. Anna University Hospital in Ferrara and from 2009 Chief of the University Clinical Psychiatry Unit, Integrated Department of Mental Health and Drug Abuse. For the last twenty-five years, he dedicated himself to research and education in the area of consultation-liaison psychiatry in oncology and to the evaluation of psychosocial concomitants of cancer, with particular reference to the cross-cultural aspects of cancer in Southern Europe. Dr Grassi is author of many scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and books on psycho-oncology and psychiatric aspects of medical illness. He has been, in 1985, a founding member of the Italian Society of Psycho-Oncology of which he was Vice-President form 1997 to 2003 and President from 2003 to 2011. He has also been the President of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) (2006-2008) and he currently chairs the IPOS Federation of Psycho-Oncology Societies and the World Psychiatric Association Section on Psycho-Oncology and Palliative Care
