Megha Deuskar
Dr. Megha Deuskar is an accomplished academic, counselor, and researcher, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Fergusson College, Pune, India. She completed her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pune in 2001, graduating as a gold medalist, and earned her Ph.D. from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2006 with the support of a UGC JRF scholarship. Since 2015, she has also been a recognized Ph.D. guide at the same university.
Deeply influenced by Indian philosophy and yogic practices, Dr. Deuskar completed formal training in Yoga from Yoga Vidyapeeth, Nasik. Her doctoral work focused on Yoga Nidra, a form of guided yogic relaxation, which she continues to teach through regular workshops. Her approach integrates humanistic and transpersonal psychology with eastern methods, emphasizing inner harmony and self-realization.
Dr. Deuskar coordinates the highly regarded Certificate Course in Counseling at Fergusson College, which blends theory with hands-on training. Now in its 18th successful year, the course attracts students from across the country and is recognized for its rigor and relevance. She was one of the key contributors to the course’s design and ongoing development.
She has fostered meaningful collaborations with several leading mental health organizations, including Muktangan, Connecting NGO, Bapu Charitable Trust, and MindBrain Solutions. Demonstrating her commitment to continuous professional development, she recently completed certification as a Professional Supervisor from the Australian Counseling Academy.
A passionate researcher and writer, Dr. Deuskar has published around 40 research papers in national and international journals. She completed the Indian adaptation of the textbook "Personality Psychology" by Larsen and Buss, widely used in academic settings. She is also an active member of academic governance, serving on the Board of Studies at Ruia College, Mumbai, and MIT ADT University, Loni.
