Chun-Kai Fang

I am Dr. Chun-Kai Fang, a psychiatrist and Associate Professor, currently serving as Director of the Hospice and Palliative Care Education and Demonstration Center at MacKay Memorial Hospital, Taipei. With over two decades of clinical and academic experience, my work focuses on integrating psycho-oncology and palliative care to promote holistic, person-centered approaches across the cancer care continuum. In 2017, I received the Noemi Fisman Award for Lifetime Clinical Excellence from the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS), recognizing my enduring commitment to the field. I am also the founding President of the Taiwan Psycho-Oncology Society (TPOS), established in 2009 to advance psychosocial care and research for cancer patients in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region. At MacKay Memorial Hospital, an ESMO-designated palliative care training institution, I have led the development of innovative, culturally grounded care frameworks, such as the CUP (Care Until Peace) Model and the Hospice-Focused Palliative Outcome Index (HFPOI), which address patient and family needs in end-of-life care, spiritual well-being, and bereavement support. I continue to mentor multidisciplinary professionals and actively contribute to global networks to promote excellence in psychosocial oncology and palliative care.
